Hi! My name is Victoire, I’m 14 years old and I’m going to tell you things you have to know before go at More than English.

First of all, lessons. In the morning, we have three hours of English lessons, I know it’s long but time passes quickly! I have an amazing teacher, Lucy. She doesn’t just teach us English, we use English. So don’t worry! If you have Lucy as a teacher, she is very funny and very cool, she’s the best teacher ever!

Now the food, we have a very good chef called Paul. We eat very good food, but to this week, the food is very spicy for me!

About the staff, there are 19 people/ member of staff. The members of staff are very nice with us. For the girls our house parents are Valentina and Rachel. They are our mums for these weeks, Lauren is a activity designer, very cool.

My opinion is that More than English is cool. In this camp/ school you learn a lot of English and other languages. The activities in this school are so funny and amazing. In this camp we are using English all the time.

Me in all the activities come with a lot of energy. I’m so exciting because I like so much the activities. Yesterday I did cricket for the first time and I like so much. The food in this school is really good. Congratulations to our chef Paul.

The owners Claire and David are so brilliant people and all the members of staff too. My teacher Lucy is a person that knows all and she’s so funny and brilliant person. I learn so much with her in our class.

Summer School - More Than English

The international summer school of the world, More than English.

In this summer school you have new experience and to meet new friends of different countries. More than English offers this nice experience to young boys and girls doing lessons and different activities.

In lessons we have a sentence to describe what we do “using English not teaching English”. Another thing like activities are very funny and you can spend time with the teachers, they are lovely and perfect and the members are Lucy, Matt, Louise, Jai, Ian, Emma, Calvin and Bethan, nice people.

A big part of More than English are the staff, they are lovely people as well, young and an important thing is the green T-shirts. The staff members are activity designers: Ania, Jacob and Lauren. Other staff are Seth, Valentina and Rachel, the house parents and Imogen, Ed and Paul the chef. Claire and David are the most important people of More than English because they are the owners.

Food in More than English is good, not bad. Paul does a great job in this part and at the moment I like it.

The best time with friends is in the bedrooms, we’re like a team and good, a problem that I have is that the bedroom in untidy and I am a tidy person.

Talking about rules, I think that if we compare with my school in Spain the rules are normal and good. The time in More than English pass so fast. My opinion about it is excellent and comparing with the lessons in home that are very boring, here are perfect.

Jordi @ More Than English

More than English is an international summer camp and English school. This camp is very good, the lessons are very cool because they are interactive and fun. The teachers are very good, my favourite teacher is Lucy because she is very funny and she teaches very well. Imogen is very expressive and Matt because he is very cool.

The food is awesome because the chef, Paul, is very good and he has a lot of experience. My favourite food in this summer camp was tacos. The lunch and dinner are very well. I think that the best of this summer camp is the excursions, because the places that we visit are very interesting and cool. The last week, we visit the city of Birmingham, the city of Oxford and the making of Harry Potter.

The house is very good, the best part of the house are the bedrooms because they are very comfortable and beautiful.

I think that this camp is very good and I’m learning a lot of English.

MY Review of More Than English

Today I want to talk about More than English.
I start with the positive opinions. You learn a lot of English and make friends from different countries. You do 3 hours a day of English, at midday you do Get Ahead, in this activity you try your favourite sport or activity. The rooms are beautiful because are decorated for all things. Teachers and staff are good people and if you have a problem they help you.

The food is very good. The house parents are Seth and Valentina. The rules of the house are normal and not stupid at all.

All the staff have a green T-shirt that is to identify them to all the boys and girls in the school.

When it comes to the great space we have in Moorpark I am most of the time, speechless. Huge fields with enormous trees, playgrounds and comfortable rooms. Although we don't have much time to actually go outside, I enjoy it very much.
Accommodation. Having different areas for the boys and girls accommodation Easies our parents minds but it could also be a little frustrating.
Apart from that, we have a great diversity of bedrooms and nationalities, with a peaceful launch with a television.
Food. As for the food MTE is always trying to be diverse, including typical foods from every country. They may not always be that tasty especially when I'm not used to it, but the chefs try their best.
Core English.
In the morning, we had interesting, dynamic and different English classes. MTE divides us according to your English level. All of the teachers are equally competent and my teacher, J, has lots of interesting stories and methods to teach us.
Get Ahead
As for our classes in the afternoon, the get ahead option, they are the most creative and normative classes I've ever seen. The option I choose, Shakespeare, has only four students but deserved so much more. We read the play Macbeth, made predictions and also watched the movie version.
International experience.
The international experience was so real. Having to 16 different nationalities and cultures adds so much to our experience and wait to see life. The only problem is the great amount of Spanish and Italian people, who keep talking to themselves in their mother language. Despite this little complication, the time we spend with different people and practicing our English is incredible.
All in all.
To sum up, I had the best time of my life here. The wonderful staff, the campus, accommodation, everything and everyone tries to make us comfortable and happy. We are busy all the time and there is always room for new things. If I could, I would return here every summer. What I learned and experienced here, I will take with me forever.

Let’s start with the biggest campus I’ve ever seen, it’s name is Moor Park. There is a swimming pool, a football stadium and tennis courts. It’s an amazing campus.

As far as the accommodation, my bedroom is really nice but too small for five people. The people in my room are really cool there are two Spanish and two French. I speak French with my French roommate but the Spanish always speak Spanish.

As far as the English lessons, this is really nice and interesting but there are four Spanish people in my class and they sometimes speak Spanish. The lessons are very good because we practice speaking and writing.

As for the Get Ahead options, I chose film making and tennis. Film making was really cool and funny but sometimes I wanted to play football. I don’t know why but sometimes I want to. I would like to change it, if there was this option we could try all the options.

We did many activities outside the campus and that’s really cool. We went to the cinema, bowling and we took many trips like Birmingham and Liverpool. When we were there we could do a lot of shopping and visit museums. We have a lot of choice and I love it!

In the campus there are many nationalities (Romanian, France, Germany) but there are too many Spanish and Italian people. I loved the international experience, it was nice.

Joao Felipe - Brazil - review

I’ve been at More Than English since the 8th July and I’m the first day I made some friends. The school’s format is very interactive and it makes us speak English all the time.
One of the interactive points is choosing our activities, showing options of activities for us is important to develop decision skills.
On the other hand, there are some points of activities that are important to improve. As a 2 or weeks course, it’s necessary to have different activities, but depending on the child’s personality, some activities can’t be good for the child, and they may have to choose between activities that he or she doesn’t want to do. Nevertheless, students have to improve communication skills, which is awesome to help them. English is “used” all the time, you’ll feel immense on the language. The staff members are very kind with us and try to help as much as possible.
Excursions are amazing, and the way that you’re divided. Unfortunately, I really want to go everywhere but it’s hard to choose. For me the excursions are the best when over 14’s can walk around without staff member. One point that could be improved on excursions is the timing as we only had a limited time for shopping.
One point to put in evidence is education, the teachers are very good they know about our country, the classes help us improve our vocabulary. It’s a funny hour we develop relationships. if we don’t know a word =, they’ll try to explain in the best way possible. Especially, Lucy, my teacher, her lessons are interesting and she wants to know our opinion by talking with us. She is the best English teacher I’ve ever had. I cannot forget about get ahead option, in the first week I chose the business challenge, it was really interesting. Kelvin and Jay are very good teachers.
Ill recommend More Than English to everyone who wants to do a summer camp. People are organised and the school is beautiful.
I have to congratulate house parents for being so patient with us especially Jana.
It’s been an amazing experience.
